Special Requests and Potential Fees

This upcharge is solely based on your pet’s individual medical and behavioral needs during the grooming process. This could simply be due to a medical condition, like a heart murmur; Or something a little more extreme, like anxiety or aggression towards having their feet handled. This requires the stylist to slow down the grooming process so that they can ensure not only them, but the pet alike remains safe and comfortable. At any time, if the stylist feels your pet is too stressed or anxious, becoming too aggressive, or seems to be having a medical episode, they will immediately stop the service and not continue if the pet is unable to calm themselves after a 15 minute break.

$10 - $30 Special Handling Fee

This upcharge is based on how long it takes for your stylist to brush out your pet’s knots and tangles. Once your stylist does their hands-on assessment of your pet, they will inform you on potential knots and what may or may not brush out. After determining that brushing out the knots will not make your pet uncomfortable, the stylist will try to work quickly to limit the stress of de-tangling. As a result of this, and the stylist’s extra care to keep your pet “lookin’ fresh”, these upcharges compensate your stylist for their time and work.

$1 per Minute De-Matting Fee

This upcharge is a result of what happens when a pet is too matted for the stylist to comfortably brush out. No matter the circumstance or cause, failure to maintain the coat of a long-haired pet may result in painful, close to the skin knotting, that “webs” into itself and becomes impossible to brush out painlessly. The only way to remove this type of matting is to take that section of hair shorter than hoped for, or, if the matting is scattered or pelts the entire body, your pet may return to you completely shaved down. If this occurs, you may be required to sign a matting release form, and expect the de-matting process to take longer than a normal visit. This will result in a $2 per minute of de-matting charge due to the fact that shaving matted hair takes longer to accomplish because of the wear and tear on equipment, and ultimately to ensure the safety and well-being of your pet.

$2 per Minute Matted Shave Fee

$10 Flea and Tick Bath Fee

This upcharge is solely based on your pet’s condition regarding fleas or ticks. If fleas are present on your pet, provided that they are not on a larger scale around your home, you may be subjected to a fee for removing those fleas and/ or ticks per a bath in the PetArmor brand of Flea and Tick Shampoo. Depending on your pet’s size and scale of infestation of pests on your pet, this fee could be $10 or more. Please see our flea and tick policy on the home page for more information regarding fleas, ticks, and how to get the issue under control. Please contact us directly if your pet has an allergy or reaction to any ingredients of this shampoo. No fleas? No fees!

This upcharge is based on the style and complexity of the haircut you are requesting. A typical haircut for most pets would entail the same length of hair all over the entire body, and a “teddy bear” like face. More complex and time- consuming haircuts, like breed standard clips, are a specialized skill that your stylist(s) had to be taught for. If you have a breed of dog like a Poodle, Schnauzer, Yorkshire Terrier, etc. and are looking for a haircut specific to that breed type, we upcharge accordingly. Complex haircuts to breed standard/type include but are not limited to: Yorkshire/ Biewer Terrier Breed Standard Clip, Continental Clip (Poodle), Town and Country Clip (Poodle), Asian-Fusion Style (Poodle), Schnauzer Breed Standard Clip, etc.

$30 per Hour Complex Haircut Fee

What is hand-stripping? Hand-stripping is the action of using a carding or “stripping” blade/knife to remove the dead, loose hair that lays on the top of a wire-haired dog’s coat, revealing the soft undercoat. This is a specialized skill that, upon booking request, your stylist can perform during your pet’s service. Hand-stripping differs from clipping the pet’s coat in the aspect that, instead of just cutting the coat off with a clipper blade, the stylist uses a tool to painlessly pull the dead hair out. Additionally, because this is a special skill our stylist(s) had to be taught for, we upcharge based on size and complication of your pet’s coat. Dog breeds that can be hand-stripped include, but are not limited to: Airedale Terrier, Wire-Haired Fox Terrier, Border Terrier, Norwich Terrier, etc. If you are interested in having your dog’s coat hand-stripped, please contact us directly via email or phone. A dog’s ability to be hand-stripped has several dependencies including, but not limited to: breed, temperament, coat condition and coat type, and if your pet has been shaved short in the past.

$30 per Hour Hand-Stripping Fee

Please Note! Pricing starts at a minimum of $80 USD due to travel costs and the luxury services we provide. However, all prices vary, dependent on: any upcharges for service type and/ or fees, the pet’s temperament, weight (lbs), coat type, coat condition, and if your dog needs special handling due to: behavior or medical conditions.
